This is the first interview in our #onegoodbook series. Our One Good Book series is intended to show people that all you really need is one good book to turn yourself into a reader for life!
It’s never too late to find that book either.
This interview is between our Literacy Outreach Coordinator, Annette, and Bryan, from Excel Martial Arts. Bryan went from non-reader to avid reader in his late twenties after a trip to England.
In London, he visited one of the places where the Sherlock Holmes novels take place. Finally, after years of his wife telling him to read it, he picked up the first book in the Sherlock Holmes series. For the first time ever, the scenes came alive in his head as he read. Bryan became hooked on reading!
READING TIP: If you’re having a hard time getting into reading try picking out a book that takes place somewhere you have traveled OR start with a book that you’ve seen the film for – it will help you start seeing vivid images while you read-just like Bryan does!
We will be doing these videos monthly so if you’d like to share your story of the book that made you a reader please contact us: firstname.lastname@example.org!
