Sharon loves literacy and understands the importance of literacy. Literacy is essential to developing a strong sense of well-being and citizenship. Children who have developed strong reading skills perform better in school and have a healthier self-image. They become lifelong learners and sought-after employees.
She has been a Rotarian since 2005 and literacy is one of Rotary’s areas of focus. She chaired the popular annual Rotary book sale for three years; was one of the people instrumental in bringing Dolly Parton Imagination Library to our area; and her Rotary Club supports 3 international projects all involved with literacy. She has also donated hundreds of books to families and organizations.
