We are excited to announce our new program – Bookworm Friends!
Bookworm Friends is a free intergenerational initiative that connects young children with older adults to share the joys of reading. When you sign-up to become a Bookworm Friend you will be paired with a passionate virtual reader! Each week, at a time that suits you and our volunteer reader, you will meet online. You will help your child flip along through the book as the reader reads the book out loud via Zoom (video-chat). We provide training on how to use Zoom if needed.
The books will be loaned to you by Chilliwack Learning Society and each month we will swap the books so you always have new reading material for your Bookworm Friends sessions!
This program is open to all families with children ages 3-7, as well as teachers. Our readers can meet your class or small groups of students online each week!
Contact Annette Williams, Literacy Outreach Coordinator at 604-392-2404 or literacyoutreach@chilliwacklearning.com to find out more, to sign your child/children or students up to the program, or to volunteer as a reader.
Chilliwack Learning Society is supported by the Government of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund and Community Foundations of Canada.
